An EU Commission project (6th Research Framework Programme),
LYCOCARD will investigate the role of the plant pigment lycopene in reducing
the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
LYCOCARD research will lead to improved nutritional guidelines, helping
consumers to make informed dietary choices that can protect against disease
risk while reducing health care costs and significantly adding to the state of the
art.
The LYCOCARD project started in April 2006. The first scientific results will be
available in July 2007.
